I have worked at a chinese place before - tips are great because people often felt they were geating a fancy meal at a fraction cost plus we were good at what we did. You might try there - or a chilis looks like fun and great money too. Like you said - depends on the place. One suggestion - don't work at a place you don't like to eat at - makes the job hard and you have to lie about the food all of the time - good luck!!

I work at a chain restaurant, but I know many people who don't. Often family owned restaurants or locally owned restaurants are better to serve at due to the personal interaction of the owners and managers. Be sure and work somewhere that they serve alcohol though because this will help you get higher tips.

Also, probably the best place to work is a catering company or private club(golf course or country club for example). Though you may not receive tips, you can often make upwards of ten dollars an hour. The only problem is that it is harder to get a job at these establishments because the turnover is not as high.

Good luck!!!

I've never waited tables but, many of my friends have. The favorite spot around here seems to be Red Lobster. They say they receive wonderful tips... much more than other restaurants where they have worked prior. I don't have much else for you. Good luck to you and God bless!

I don't know where you live, but try a sports bar if it's in a big city. You can make a ton of money if it's game night and the team wins. Also, try starting out at a 3 diamond restaurant. It's not too much pressure for high-end service and you can still make the moolah.

Any restaurant job pretty much sucks. My family owns a restaurant, so I'm stuck with it for who knows how long. Good luck to you, though!
