You can thank the electoral college for that. As much as the U.S. prides herself on cultural enlightenment & diversity, the sad reality is that the good ol' boys of the racist South still run the show.

Look at the past Democratic presidents we've had. Clinton? Good ol' boy from Arkansas. Jimmy Carter? Peanut farmer from Georgia.

Any Democratic hopeful has to be able to carry the Deep South under the current political global warming climate. That was Kerry's downfall - the conservatives were successful in instilling that "yankee phobia" of anyone who dared to hail from New England.

Blacks? Females? Hell, we can't even elect a Yankee!

The political establishment still favors the same tired old white males. Potential candidates such as Colin Powell or even Oprah are above the mudslinging required to conduct a presidential campaign. The majority of presidents in recent memory have been governors (Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter). Until we see prominent females or minorities serving as governors, I don't think this will change.

Because they think females are too emotional, to deal with wars and stuff!.....Females would back down, and have the whole army back down with them lol.....Females couldnt run this country as well as a man...We got our rights, but we didnt get them all the way....Sorta like racist people out there today, well females some look down on us, because we arent what you would excatlly call male material, males have a higher ground then we do.....they tend to be more aggresive, and powerful, although women do tell men off during an arguement..lol but besides that they look at it like we wouldnt be able to run it because, we are the most emotional humans...lol

The same reason we don't have a black or white female as vice president, the job requires balls.

I don't think a Black man/woman ever ran and there was a woman that ran but pulled out because her son was arrested for drugs. Lieberman was the first Jew to run as vice president so we are taking baby steps.

i'd vote for a black female republican for president any day if she were the best candidate for the job - the same qualification as any other person i would consider voting for.

I find it humorous that policy isn't even considered in your question. You are implying that a woman should be president just because she is a woman. What a way to crucify your gender.

I'm all for a woman president.

Our country is still too bigoted, I think. If Collin Powell had run he might have been elected but a woman? No.
