I would get started right away. You can start looking now and may have better luck finding good deals. Its so nice to have ur baby's room done early so you can go in there and just look around and antisipate. By the time you are like 8 or 9 months along the last thing u will want to be doing is work even if its decorating your baby's room. You'll still be doing things in there but you don't want to just be gettin started plus you never really know when those little cuties will decide to come. All three times I have goten so anxious and excited about being pregnant that I got started right away. Congratulations!!!! Good luck! :)

You will probably get thrown a baby shower towards the last trimester, but collect the things you think you'll need now. My friends still haven't thrown me a shower and I'm 5 weeks away from full term. All we have are a crib with no mattress, a bouncer, a high chair, and a car seat with no manual. All second-hand.
Start buying things that you want now. You and the grandparents get the big-ticket items, while baby showers bring clothes and diapers and other smaller things.
Plus, you never know what can happen. Baby can suddenly be born early.
And have you thought about how much time it takes to make room? Moving furniture in my small apartment has been no easy task for my husband all by himself now that I'm beyond helping.
Get it all set up so that all you have to think about at the end is taking care of yourself and going to birthing classes. Heck, pack your hospital bag at 32 weeks. This gives you time to change your mind about what's in it or keep it in your car so you don't have to think about it when the time comes.

Girl you have a lot of time to decide. And they come out with new cute things all the time. Pick a theme and go with that. Buying everything for a baby can get expensive. Unless you have the money to wait until the baby is due I would say start buying little at a time.

If you still have 7 1/2 months, spread your buying out over the time. That way it doesn't all hit at once, and is easier on your budget. Also, set up multiple registries at stores and online. Most online stores can do that and then you can even have the stores send a message to people that you want to see the registry.

I'd start asap. You can always buy things for now that would be for a boy or girl(crib, safety seat, lotions, well you get the idea). Then when you find out the sex if you choose to, you can buy the other things like the clothes and stuff.

It's your call. I'm superstitious and didn't buy anything until I was far enough along that if I went into labor the baby would be ok.
Congrats to you and have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

You will be in a hurry and won't have time to select the best in the last minute and hence when you free do it immediately
