I use the Google Toolbar and it makes a very good Pop-Up Blocker. I still get a few, but they are rare. Adware, Spyware or computer viruses can feed you pop-ups. Run a virus scan and then run Spyware Scan. If you do not have an Anit Spyware Program then I suggest Spybot Search and Destroy. Its a free program.

Have you got a Google or Yahoo toolbar with pop-up blocker. Are you sure they are switched on. At the side of every icon there is an little arrow.....v or >>, click on the arrow and a drop down menu will appear. you can adjust your personal settings from there.
Try it !

Yes. Stop using Internet Explorer and get a better, more secure browser such as Opera (http://opera.com) or Firefox (http://mozilla.com). They're both free. Opera is faster, smaller, and with more features built in, while Firefox is more bare-bones but allows you to download millions of free "extensions" that add functionality.

You may want to switch to another web browser. Try Mozilla's Firefox. It's free and it works.
