1/6 / 3/4 find common denominator for answer. (12) is common, but how can the answer be 11/12?

2/12 * 4/3 = 8 / 24 = 1/3

I think it's 1/6 + 3/4

1/6 + 3/4 =
2/12 + 9/12 = 11/12

1/6=2/12 and 3/4=9/12 so adding it is 11/12

you got the common denominator as 12 by multiplying the bottom by 2 in the first fraction and 3 in the second..have to do the same to the top...therefore 1/6 becomes 2/12 and 3/4 becomes 9/12..not too hard really

1/6 is 2/12...3/4 is 9/12...2/12 / 9/12 is the same as 2/12 x 12/9...24/108...which simplifies to 2/9.

= 4/18
= 2/9

1/6 x 4/3=2/9

2/12 x 16/12=32/144=16/72=2/9
