Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Fornication, sex between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, is contrary to their human dignity and the dignity of human sexuality.
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
The purpose of sex is to bring a husband and wife closer and to create human life.
Unwed pregnancy is one serious ramification of the sin of fornication.
With love in Christ.

Very sad! Teen sex is rising these days. I don't think they are well-educated enough to know all the protection options. Or they choose to ignore it, thinking, "It won't happen to ME!"
Unfortunately, teen pregnancy promotes abortion, which I'm totally against. There are SO many couples out there who want children badly and these senseless acts of abortion could be stopped and these couples be given a child.
As far as it being a "sin" . . .
It would be nice is EVERYONE practiced abstinence before marriage! The bible tells us to practice abstinence until marriage.

I am Catholic,...but I don't believe it could be a sin. If God is the giver (creator, if you will of life) how could God be disapproving of a life he has created?? Think it's an old fashion way of thinking, just for society reasons...not for religious reasons...cuz according the the Christian bible...if you read the first testament...there's lots of babies born out of wedlock...or even, from adultery...and these didn't seem to be problems to them!

life is very complicated these days. let's us all take care of our own problems first to make sure we are leading the life we want to.
lets not get all workedup on things around us that doesnt concern us. i mean if u have a close one with that situation and the person needs your support on that, then you try to listen and be supportive (or ignore...depending on how you look at the situation). otherwise, just stay calm and concentrate on your life and see how u can make things better for your self and for people involved in your life.
cheers!

Well then I guess a good portion of France is going to hell because people there just live together and have kids instead of getting married.

If you believe the Bible, sex outside of marriage is a sin. Yes the sex drive was created by God, but He designed it to be shared between husband and wife. If you don't believe the Bible, then it is irrelevant.
