I'm an x-ray tech......you have had a serious break and so it could be a couple more months before you heal enough to walk on it without the cast. Hopefully he is x-raying you every few weeks to monitor your healing. Hang in there. I know it's a pain to wear a cast but if it doesn't heal right you'll have a lot more to worry about.

Spiral fractures on the lower leg take a long time to heal. I broke mine from the knee, into the ankle. At that time, I was told I would be in a cast or at least a brace for up to a year. The record was 6 months. I made it in 4 months. That was before the rods so I don't know about that for sure. My sister has broken both legs in spiral. One was roded. It didn't seem to make much difference.

In theory, bone will knit and remodel within 4 months; but since you've been off it I'd count 4 months from the time you start putting weight on it. It may take an additional 2-4 months for the muscle and other soft tissues to readjust, and significant scarring may result. IOW any fall sports you had in mind are out, but you should be running by spring.

Bone healing time will vary from individual to individual. You broke your bone in many different spots, so it might take longer for it all to strengthen. However, in general it'll be about 100 days.

You've got another month or so, but be patient and let it heal properly.

I broke my collarbone in a mountain biking accident. I chose to let it heal naturally, and it took roughly 3 months before I was confident to try biking again. I did try to get on a bike about 2 month into the healing, and I hurt so bad I thought my collarbone was going to snap again. However, after it healed properly a few weeks later, I rode the MS150 (150 mile bike from from Houston to Austin).

Be patient and you'll heal faster.
