This is news to me, Kobe has always been number 8. He has three rings in just over 9 years so things are great for him on the court. If you remember back when Jordan came out of retirement with the bulls he wore 45 and it just didn't seem right. Then when he came back some games later with his trademark #23 the world was all right again, fans identify with a players number, even more so in football because we don't see the players faces. It's bad luck to change your number. I played high school baseball for years and always wore number #10, it was my number and i never thought to change it.

It's going to be weird to say number 24 instead of number 8 but i think it is going to be a good for kobe b/c it will signal a new begining without shaq.

This is good for the Lakers because it'll increase their market, because once the old Kobe jerseys gone then people would want to update their closets with the "new" stuff that's on the market. But it's bad for Kobe because that number has done him so much good ever since the day he got drafted.

24 means nothing(81 is even better)
8 is much better
pple are jusr resistant to changes
half a decade down the road
pple would tink hey tat wasnt so bad afterall
but i still prefer if players stick to a no. thruout
maybe 24>23(MJ) is his new soulution
as he steps into the last phase of his career
(along with his new endorsement KOBE ZOOM 1)
watch out for K083
its a bird no its a plane NO its KOBE BRYANT

no not really. i understand that it is mainly corportate. something to do with breaking up from adidas and switching to nike. he wanted to switch for last year, but didnt submit it to the comish in time.
to me, kobe will always be #8. I plan on keeping, and wearing, my Lakers #8 jersey. it will be weird when the lakers retire his number though. which will they do #8, #24 or both?
Some of the plusses of the new number are: one more than Jordan and Lebron, and-this is tight- he and Lamar will now be 24/7

I think it is a brilliant move from a marketing standpoint. His jersey has always been in at least the top 5 in jersey sales, and now all the millions of people who bought a #8 jersey will have to go get a new one.

Doesn't matter either way, he might win a scoring title but he's going to be stuck with three rings for the rest of his career and he should buy Shaq three rings to thank him for getting them for him.
