A defrag doesn't delete or erase any part of ur hard drive..
In simple words, it rearranges your data so that the operating system can access it more easily and also faster..
Right click on the hard drive in "My Computer" and click properties.. If you have Windows XP, go to tools and click on defragment. This will take some time.. and it will just re organize the data on the drive..

Virtual memory too low is a condition that the computer will fix by itself. It means that whatever programs are currently running take up more memory than the current virtual memory. If you don't think the system is that busy, better run a norton virus scan and Ad-Aware, you hmay have other programs running you don't know about.

Defragmenting (Open My Computer, right click on C:/ Drive, choose properties / tools / defragment ) rearranges the files on your disk more neatly, it should not delete anything. It will keep the system pretty busy for a few hours, though. It should be run every 6 months or so.

You don't need to defragment
Go to control panel===>System====>Advance====>click on setting down the Performance====>Click on Advance tab===>click change and set and limit between 900 and 1200
you never see "Virtual Memory is too low"
