It might be because it takes a long time to load all the spyware and adware you've picked up from certain websites like a case of the internet crabs that you have to get rid of. Download "Adaware" from lavasoft.com It's free and it works, my machine runs three times faster than it used to before I got "de-loused" by adaware.

Because you have lots of programs that is being pulled up by your computer at Start up.

If you want to be faster do the following>

Click Start> Choose Run> Type MSCONFIG > hit OK

Click Startup tab

Then clear the programs you do not want to run upon startup
as a suggestion, leave your antivirus running and yahoo messenger. If a program seems important, leave that too.

Any other program you recognize and u dont need it at startup, clear it.

Hit apply and OK, then restart. AS soon as u restart, check the box on a popup window so that message will not appear again. Its the System configuration popup.

check what is starting up when windows start's
click on start /run
in the box type
msconfig
then click ok
then click on the startup tab
un-tick what you dont want to have start when windows does
click on services
tab
un-tick what you dont want to have startup
when windos startup
run a virus scan and a spyway/trojan/worm
scan

do you have all your updates done on your computer and do you take care of your anti-virus scan each day? You should also go to your tools and delete files, clear history and cookies once a day after your done with your computer or after you've finished being on it for the day. Which ever day that you are on it and then run your computer, then run your virus scan then it should go faster. But only IF your updates are done. That should help you

It's busy doing other things. You may have caught some spyware/viruses that are keeping your system busy at startup. Run your virus scan and antispyware software.
