I was just wondering what you all thought of this:
If one day alone at night you discovered a serial killer in your home, what would you do?
I know it's a pretty far-fetched question but I just wanted to know what you guys think.

First of all, arm yourself with something. I heard a story about husband and wife in bed when the wife thought she heard something. She grabbed one of her high heeled shoes to check out some sound. The neighbors saw someone and called the cops. After a short time, he decided maybe there was something to it and went to look himself, then talking with a cop, he joked about how she armed herself with a shoe. The cop looked at him levelly and ask, "And what did you arm yourself with sir?" He didn't laugh then, since he brought nothing to help himself.

Next, get help.
Some say to call 911. This would be great if it did not expose you to immediate danger.
Same with running outside. What use is it to try to get the door open if the killer has time to get to you? Besides, the doors are the places he/she will look for you.
The thought of seduction or rationalization with a serial killer would only be good if you knew this person in depth, and/or were capable at overpowering the killer. Otherwise, it would only be a cat and mouse game whee you are the mouse.
You need a diversion which might also act as a signal to neighbors to call the cops.
A study showed that more people would respond to the call of "fire" than a call of "help". I guess they think you can control a fire easier than a person? Anyway, so I would start a highly visible fire, hopefully just outside a window. Start your rude car alarm off and leave it going. Anything that would make someone nearby to call for re-enforcements.
Most important, be prepared to do anything to get away. Head for the panic room...er, oops, no panic room? ok. You will need to keep your wits, and not have a panic attack. Good luck!

That way we are able to get help and not danger the killer listening to us (: And if the killer comes into the room, i visit maximum relatively leap out of the window. i've got self assurance i visit look up magnificent techniques to land without hurting myself real now... You via no means comprehend once you need to use those issues :D the greater desirable you comprehend, the greater effectual. thank you for the interesting question and now i'm waiting to stand a killer getting into my house.

Well, if one day it was at night then I would be scared already! But then to discover a serial killer in my closet hiding behind my cloths would be devistating. I would probably try and run, but since its day and night at the same time I'd probably trip on a log or something.

Good question.

Is he seeing me or not? If not it depends on the house, I guess I would do this: Grab a sharp knife, call 911, try to get out of the house, hide so he couldn't see me, go where is sorrounded by people
If he see's me, try to run as far as I can, In my house I know I can jump to other houses or to the street, so then go to a friend's house and call the cops and stay in there

Well..there were two of them within two miles from my home, that's close enough for me.

If I found out there was one in my home, I would find a way to get out or I would be hiding very very good and calling 9-11

That's a scary question.

I wonder if anyone reads the answers this far down on the list?

Anyway, I would (given enough time) fashion a MacGuiver type booby trap for him. Probably something involving boiling hot oil.

Firstly, I would ask him why he wore a T-Shirt saying he was a serial killer (i mean how else would you instantly know).

Secondly, I would politely ask him to leave

Thirdly, if he refuses. Then I would cook him a meal, he must be hungry after all that killing

Run outside, NOT upstairs as seen in the movies! Go to your nearest neighbor and call 911!

Step one: Get out of your house!
Step two: Find help. ie: a neighbor who has a phone and locked doors.
Step three: Forget trying to be a hero cuzz your life isn't worth the risk.
