Yes, it is totally normal. Your baby may be going through a growth spurt. Eventually, your baby will nurse less often. Sounds like your little one has a good appetite.

That's pretty much normal. S/he could also be hitting a growth spurt early. My son did this, and even though the doc said he would quit eating like that in a few weeks, it lasted months. (He was eating a little, every 45 minutes) The kid was huge!! Anyways, your baby might start sleeping through the night if s/he can hold the milk for hours and is getting all her meals during the day, so that's always a plus. As long as baby is gaining weight and growing properly, there's usually nothing to be worried about. Congratualtions!!!

I don't think that sounds bad, since it's breastmilk, though if she's spitting up a lot, it could be a sign that she's overfeeding.
That would be way too much if it were formula, since formula is denser. When my son was that little, he would only take 2 ounces of formula every 2 hours, but nursing he would take 3 at least. Now at 6 months his morning bottle(formula) is still only 5 to 6 ounces.

Your baby cannot have too much breast milk. It digests so fast, that no matter how much he/she drinks, it will be fine. I saw someone saying that if you pump, your supply will not keep up. Not true. I had to pump for the first 10 weeks... and I couldn't get rid of the milk fast enough. I froze probably 1 weeks worth supply just by the overflow. As long as you keep pumping regularly, your supply will keep up.
It would be best to nurse from the breast, but if you must pump... then make sure for every drop that baby eats, you pump the same amount or more out to keep the supply going.
At 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks... they go through growth spurts... and tend to eat more often... so be careful when this occurs. If you're pumping, you could interrupt your supply if you're not following baby's cues.

Very normal. Breast milk digests quickly, and your baby should continue to eat every 2-3 hours for at least a few weeks.
Just out of curiosity, are you pumping every time? If you are, your milk production won't likely increase to keep up with the demands of your growing baby. You may want to check out the La Leche League's website or call one in your area and see what they have to say about it.
Best wishes & congrats on your new little one.

sounds like you are pumping and bottle feeding? if you put the baby to your breast instead of just using a bottle baby might not feed so often.
i strickly breast-fed my baby (no bottles) just about every hour for first 6 weeks. she didn't go to 4 hours till she was 6 months old. i had great milk and lots of it but she was a rapid growth baby. 7 pounds at birth - 22 pounds at 5 months and 35 pounds at a year.
Not fat just big. she started eating cereals at 12 weeks cause she needed more then i could give her. But boy was and is she healthy!
breast milk contains more water there formula. notice how thin it looks in comparison formula. the curds are smaller so the baby will take more. Just how it is meant to be.
this is the hardest time for you to nurse. with each day it will get easier and easier.
Just remember, to drink a glass of water right before you nurse or pump.

yes a breast fed baby can eat more than a formula baby because the milk is less dense. If you are pumping compare it to formula and you will see what i mean.
If i give my daughter formula in a bottle she can only eat 6-8 oz
If i pump she can eats 10-12 oz.
(she is 6 months)
So it is totally normal
She should be eating about 10-15 mins on each side.
Good luck breast feeding and congrats.

Very normal in my experience however I bottle-feed. Right now he's in a growth spurt so it will calm down a little in a few days, however babies go through a growth spurt every 6 weeks up to age 1 so know that when your baby hits these milestones he/she is going to be drinking more and sleeping more!!

Yes it is normal. And it is very health for you and the baby. It wil help your uterus return to normal size more quickly and your baby will have fewer colds and ear infections than a bottle-fed child. I have four kids and I breast fed all of them. The longest I did one of my kids was 18months. I support every mother that decides to breast-feed. Keep up the good work also you and that child will share a special bond.
