I own 470 VHS tapes and 280 DVD's. I'm not buying many VHS now, but I've bought them since 1989. DVD's have many advantages, so I've replaced some VHS with DVD. I have a special all-region DVD player. The USA is in Region 1. I like movies from Japan in Region 2, Hong Kong in Region 3 and Red China in Region 6. One cannot play them on the usual player one buys here.

I was all about the VHS until DVD's came out. I'm kinda partial to both. VHS are cheaper.

I have to go with DVD due to the picture quality, sound, and the storage convenience. Scratching is a problem, although VHS has an analogous problem of magnetic fields creating distorted or erased areas.

DVD's are convenient, but VHS's don't get scratched.
Another damned double edged sword!!!

I like DVDs but the technologies are changing so fast and you may not know what you're really getting or how to get the most out of it (or if you're getting the most out of it.)
