My 11 sister likes Nintendogs and Animal Crossing.

maybe some kind of mario games like NEW super mario bros. or Mario Kart DS or if you dont want mario then you might want nintendogs which is the best selling game for the DS. It all depends on what she likes. Those games are the best games I think but you should get a different opinion first.

Theres a magazine that comes out monthly concerning the top games with nintendo, you can find it in most any supermarket.
I'd also recommend a subscription to SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS. And I'd make sure when you got it, she did not allow it to get bent.(there's sports cards in there, that someday could be worth big bucks) .

Try to find a game on a tv show. Like Suite Life of Zach and Cody: Tipton Trouble...Very good.

My niece is the same age and I purchased a gift card from a kids jewelry, accessory store called "Clair es". They have all the "hip" "in" things for young girls..She loved it
