What do you think of the movie "You Got Mail"?

Would you like to sent mails wit someone that you totally don't know and them you meet them you may not know each other like in the movie

The movie was pretty much a rip off of The Shop Around The Corner, but I liked it.

As for the internet relationship. I view those as a "Buyer Beware" situation. I know some one who had a relationship over the internet, but; they originally met at a conference and then courted over the internet. At any rate, they are married now and seem happy. They still text one another all the time. Strange given they could just use the phone now.

I think that the Internet and emails allow people to do one of two things. Either be totally themselves or be someone totally different. While I don't condone meeting strangers you have only communicated with through emails, chats, or IMs, I think it is possible to have a friend in cyber space and never know if that person is someone you already know.

The Internet has truly made this world small.

"You Got Mail" was cute & quaint but in this day & age it would be really archaic. IIRC, the main characters in the movie corresponded only via e-mail before meeting.

These days, I would imagine that internet users would employ other methods of acquaintance, i.e., webcams, telephone, chat, file transfers of pics, &/or IM instead of relying solely on e-mail words alone.

Of course, I could be wrong about others, but I certainly wouldn't meet someone based on e-mail alone.

I liked it because we hope that love will find us in our time of greatest need. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have the youthful qualities that make it seem possible to happen, and they have a nice chemistry between them. For those who dream of finding someone like this, I think it is a movie to build your hopes on. The trick in life is to find that special person, and the work at keeping love alive. People stop trying to keep love special, and one day, it slips away. If she/he is really special, make love continue to grow, and strive to understand changes because they happen to us all. Most of all, do not let love grow stale and cold.
