I honestly think I may be starting to go through the change. Here's the facts:
1.eight years old when I started my period
2.Mom was early forties when she went through the change, but did not start her period until she was 18.
3.I was born with a double uterus, an incomplete septum, only one fallopian tube and ovary, which is bent back and attached to the double uterus(was told I would never have kids and I had two-my miricle babies)
4.Probably has no correlation, but 30%of my hair is grey
5.Hot and cold flashes, and I sweat ALL THE TIME for last 6 mnths
6.Periods have become extremely light and of short duration for about the last 4 or 5 months
7.I'm tired all the time, and have been very grumpy.

If it is not the change, then I don't know what else it could be except that for about 8 months I have been waffeling back and forth between quitting smoking (buy a pack about once or twice a week)

Any suggestions?

it is very likely you are going through an early menopause. it is extremely rare for women to go through this at such a young age, but entirely possible, especially if you have a family history of this sort of thing (if your mother went through the change at a young age). i dont know if your bicornuate uterus has anything to do with it, but im sure the genetic tendencies in your family have a huge part to do with it. sounds like you are definitely experiencing alot of the symptoms of the change - have you seen a doctor yet for a positive diagnosis? if not, you may want to go see one, so you can be given some options to make the transition to the change easier...perhaps they will put you on a birth control pill or premarin to make the hot flashes less miserable for you. good luck!

It sounds hormonal.

The #1 hormone - because it can affect the production of all the other hormones - is insulin. Both estrogen and smoking can help keep insulin in line. If your estrogen is slacking off or you are quitting smoking, insulin can overproduce, causing overproduction of other hormones. Ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult.

Also ask for a saliva test. This test will tell you if any of your feminine hormones are not at the best levels. I do not like doctors who prescribe hormones for any feminine problem without testing first. When that happened to me - the shot he gave me switched me from low blood sugar to diabetes.

Your symptoms could be related to low blood sugar. They sound quite like mine, the mood swings, the hot flashes. You may want to check out www.hufa.org, and click on the symptoms link to check yourself out.

However, I am almost 52 and not stopping yet. Can we trade feminine organs?

You could be premenopausal. Or crazy enough pregnant again (some women do still flow while pregnant and others don't show on urine test) either way a doctor is your best bet. I think premenopausal because I know there are cases younger then 31. I wish you the best and hope this helped.
