Color is only one of the qualities on which a diamond is judged. Sometimes colors are considered to be a flaw, sometimes the color does raise the price of the diamond. It is like supply and demand of any other item. The more people who want to buy diamonds of a certain color, then the higher the price for that particular stone. Coloration of diamonds indicates sometimes impurities or other flaws in the stone (also artificial treatments), these other flaws may make the stone less valuable too.

Colored diamonds are sometimes desireable and natural colored diamonds do exist. They have come in contact with another substance or been irradiated. Diamonds can also be colored artificially.
