yes to a certain extent. You don't need to have strong arms to shoot. Most power is generated in your legs.
Contrary to the urban myths, weight training DOESN'T hurt your shooting touch. Yes, it will affect it if you practise shooting IMMEDAITELY after your workout. But if you do it the next day or several hours i assure you there is absolutely no effect on it.
Think about it - what if i have to push some couch around or lift some goods onto a truck? Isn't it the same as lifting weights? Your muscles don't have eyes, it doesn't know whether your are lfiting iron or not. Resistance is as resistance does. Many NBA players gains lots of muscle and strength by lifting weights(just take a look at their physique before and after they join the nba), and i dont think it hurt them at all.

shooting power comes from the knees(90%)
tink of a rifle the chamber(knees) fires the bullet
the barrel(arms) just guide the bullet along
u dun need stronger arms for shooting(not even 3pters)
and players dun do resistance training(weights, bands etc)
as the season draws near
they only do it post season think of it as a cycle
ur shot will definatly get affected when u weight train
tink changing a bigger capcity engine in a car
it doesnt work the rest of the car has to be retuned to suit the engine so does your body

No, I would start with practice at aiming the ball to go in the hoop. Most players in college are not allowed to lift weights during the season, it screws there shots up...

No. push ups alone wont do you any good. It might even hurt your pulse which is very important in shooting the ball. Develop your thighs and legs. Your vaulting power raises you higher thus, lesser pulse control in targeting the ring

as a basketball coach i suggest fullbody workout. arms are great, but the jump shot strength also comes from the legs. do a lot of jumping drills.
however, dont forget to do what you do best. i was never a great 3point shooter. but get me around the free throw line and i was deadly. know your strengths and use them to your advantage.

its all in the knees. strength for a shot comes from the knees. but pushups are probably the easiest and best way to build upperbody strength. you should do them anyway, to build a more sturdy frame.

Yes. Building your arm muscles will help you shoot better.
Leg muscles will help with your jump shots as well.

Lift weights or use some resistance bands to help those arms muscles. If you want to dunk, you need strong leg muscles.

yes, it will definitely help..............i've been doing a whole lot of push ups this past year, and my arms and chest have been getting bigger, stronger and more cut...........push ups will definitely strengthen you up...........for better results, try doing push ups while elevating your legs up on a chair and do your push ups against the floor............the leverage will add more force to your arms, which will create better results
