Pluto is a my ruling planet and I got wondering how astrology "worked" before it was discovered (b/c Pluti was discovered recently)
Mind you I know veryyyy little about astrology...I have no idea if my question is legit 8-)

Neither Pluto, Uranus nor Neptune were known when astrology was invented.
Astrology, as it exists today, is nothing more than a parlor trick that uses vague predictions and relies more on your interpretation of what it says than what is real.
It is in the same category as crystal balls and tarot cards.
It has some entertainment value, and if you read a horoscope, you may be subject to some subtle suggestions, but otherwise you will find that each horoscope can be applied to anyone on any given day.
However,
In today's astrology, there are 12 sun signs and only 11 acknowledged heavenly ruling bodies. I beleive that Taurus is the only one that has to share a planet with another sign. Modern astrologers often refer to planet X as being Taurus' ruling planet.
But to answer your question, I would suggest that before the discovery of Pluto, your sign (scorpio, I beleive) was ruled by a planet shared by another sign.
Going further, I would suggest you ask astrology questions in a different forum. You might get better answers.

GOOD question!!! Mine ruling planet is also Pluto. Well Mars and Pluto to be exact. I was wondering about that also.
I think that the "planets" are just a guidance or marker to other stars... but they themselves do not "rule" our charts. It's what lies beneath those planets that "rule" our charts.

That's weird because Astrology was "invented" long before
Pluto was discovered...
I guess Astrology just kind of re-invents itself every time
some new object is discovered in the heavens..
Must be kind of convenient for the folks that decide what
things mean in Astrology...
