Umm... well I have never heard of a run and hit... but I am guessing... a hit and run is when you smash your car into something/someone and keep driving...

and a run and hit... is when your running (not in car) and smack someone and keep running???

yeah, a run and hit isn't an actual baseball term. if someone scores while someone else reaches base then maybe you could say that. But a hit and run is just when the coach calls for the guy to steal and expects the guy at the plate to get a pitch to hit, giving the runner a head start so that he can cover more ground and maybe score.

and by the way for anyone else answering, they're talking about baseball, not a car wreck.

In theory, in a run and hit, the runner is off with the pitch, then the batter hits the ball. In a hit and run, the runner waits to see if the ball is hit before he runs. I modern baseball, there really isn't any difference.

A run and hit is where a baserunner will break on the pitch as if to steal the next base. The batter then has the option to swing at the pitch, if it is a good pitch, and put it in play. If it is not he would not swing and the runner would just be trying to steal the next base.
