Fascism: A right wing political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism).
Our current government (and much of the population) is obviously anti-liberal. Given how Congress acts, ignoring its own constituents and given the low voter turnout, we're not really a functioning democracy anymore.
And as for an authoritarian hierarchical government, there's never been a better example than our current Commander-in-Sheik. A man who refers to the Constitution as "just a g*d*mn piece of paper", calls himself the Decider (as if nobody else's decisions matter), ignores the courts and ignores federal when it gets in his way.
A fascist government doesn't need to be a single-person tyranny, if the executive ignores the courts and controls the legislature, the net result is the same.
The only hope is that Bush only has two and third more years in office. And after that we stand a chance of reclaiming the country.

Similarly to Communism, Fascism took control of the economy with the inauguration of many organizations to control output and prices amongst other things. This was in line with Mussolini's belief and aim of creating economic self-sufficiency. Hitler succeeded in this endeavour because he was able to rearm Germany and once World War II began, was able to keep the country functioning.
