my feet are really callused on the bottom because I go out a lot w/o shoes- but I can't get them soft! I've used every cream under the sun, pumice stones, files- nothing works. Any suggestions?

As you get older your feet and hands tend to become dry. Because you walk on your feet everyday - it is more likely to become rough and dry. Buy those moisturizing socks (they're like 4 bucks) and put either Vaseline/Shea Butter/Cocoa Butter. What you are doing is fine - it takes time. All you can do is prevention to make sure that it doesn't get worse. Also getting frequent pedicures (whether you do it yourself or get one done by a salon) will slough off dead cells, which can make your feet look dry. Ever notice how good your feet (in addition to your painted toes) look after a pedicure? I'm putting a link for the Joan Rivers Absolutely Magic Foot Cream. Your feet will look SO good - and if you don't like it or see results in 30 days you can return it for a full refund. I bought it on QVC.... just give it a try. Good luck! I'm sure your feet will look fine.

My suggestion:

1. Pumice you're feet while in the shower every day to gradually remove the callused skin.
2. Apply Vaseline or one of my my favorites, True Blue Spa Lay It On Thick Intense Moisture Shea Body Cream or I Love Shea Shea Ultra-Pampering Foot Cream w/20% Shea Butter immediately after to seal in moisture.
3.Put on some cotton socks to help the product to penetrate the skin.
4. Always apply a light cream or lotion on your feet prior to wearing shoes. Not too much to avoid sweating.

If you follow the above instructions, your feet will be softer and are more appealing no time! When you go to get pedicures the lady who does your feet will be very happy!

**The True Blue Spa Lay It On Thick Intense Moisture Shea Body Cream and I Love Shea Shea Ultra-Pampering Foot Cream w/ 20% Shea Butter are heavy and you don't need alot. Each of these products smell very good**

Soak them in water with Epsom Salts while you're watching the evening news, then go to town with the pumice stone/file. Lotion like mad just before bed (make sure it's a good quality lotion, not just pretty-smelling... try something "intensive care")- rub it in, then make sure there's some left on the surface of your skin. Cover them with cotton socks for the night..

Wear socks and shoes in the daytime. This summer, I've been wearing flip-flops a lot, and my feet- usually soft and pink- are getting all dry and hard, caloused... gotta wear shoes/sox for a couple days...

Stop walking without shoes or else anything you try to soften your feet will surely be an up hill battle. Scrub your feet daily and use creams that contain alpha hydroxyacids (a chemical, though naturally occuring, exfoliant that helps to normalize the cell renewal process and soften skin).

Pamper and assist yourself by getting pedicures.

Put Vaseline on your feet whenever you wear socks and at night before you go to bed, with socks on. It works wonders and its cheap.

maybe you should soak your feet in water so that the skin gets soft, and then get a scrubbing block to rub off all the excess skin.
