war is justifiable if your countries under attack and you must protect yourself but not to attack another country in the belief that it could attack you then it most definitely is not justified. because you're PARANOID doesn't mean they are.

The vast majority of wars are based on ‘greed’! Whilst they might claim to have other motives, if you look hard enough, you’ll usually find that greed was the real motive!
There is an old saying which suggests that fighting for peace is like f….ing for virginity! There is probably a lot of truth in that saying.
Should ‘war’ ever be justified? I guess it really depends on what side you are on. There will always be justification in defending yourself and your country. There’s no question about that! Where justification is needed however is starting a war in the first place. We need to look very closely at the motives, and what alternatives could and should have been taken to prevent it.
We are part of the international family of man! As in any family, there is a need for acceptance, understanding, and compassion. If we can learn to work together for the betterment of mankind, and to strive for a world free from poverty, where everyone can live a dignified existence, then wars may one day, be a thing of the past!
World Peace is not an unreachable dream. It can be attained... by giving... not by taking! If the 'want mores' can learn to appreciate what they already have; and the 'haves' can help the 'have nots' to become 'haves'... World Peace will be well within our reach!

RE:
Do you think that a war can ever be justified?
Seems like some people support wars, while others say peace is always the way to go. Given recent wars in our time, and wars in the past, do you think that a war could ever be justifiable?

If you are attacked you have the right to defend yourself. However, if you are going around the world selling munitions, guns, airplane, rockets, mines, ships, subs, tanks and Humvees, you may just be responsibly for some of the hatred in the world. In that case, maybe the best defense is to not push other people around or encourage them invade or harm other people.
In fact, you might even find that being forward leaning in spreading peace is really the best defense.
War can not be justified, but sometimes it may be a consequence that which was not averted.
I suggest the United States gets into the business of averting warfare. It might even be advisable to create a Peaceful Industrial Complex for the creation of peaceful problem solving.
But then maybe Jesus was preaching in parables to much.

Yes, war is justified sometimes. However, in order to avoid a war you have to convince an opponent that you are more than ready to go at any time. That is why a strong military is a deterrant.

The empire is upto a bigger game... if it was just about some small scale gizmo war, then by now we should have had enough of it. The aim is global conquest. Middle East just happens to be the easiest first target. And ofcourse due to oil there is hope of recovering the mounting costs of war. Israel is just a proxy agent for American wars.
You have a population of dumb spoilt brats who do not realize the costs that humanity is paying and has been paying for this lousy fascist dream over the centuries. It is the time to evolve and put an end to all of this. Please put these jokers back in their cages before it gets too late...

I'm currently deployed and don't want to be here. I miss home and the freedom of getting to do what I want and when I want. But that's what I'm making sure that these people will recieve. I don't like war but is justified for the sake of freedom.

When your enemy is determined to destroy you or control you, and will not listen to logic, the only recourse is force. I have and will in the future stand-up and be willing to give my life to our way of life. I do not my children live in an oppressive society, or live at a lower standard of life. The same people that say war is never justified, are the same people that will not defend themselves or their family if attacked. We did not have to fight the war for independence, we could have continued to live under the rule of the king--no freedom of speech, or religion, or right to not have troops housed and feed in our homes, or no right to refuse our personal property seizure by the king. We did not have to fight the war of 1812, we could have said we changed our minds and would accept English's King rule. Oh, and let us not forget the Civil War, we could have allowed slavery to continue in our country. History is full of countries that disappeared because the people lost the will to fight. If someone points a gun at me, I will attempt to shoot first and kill them, I will not wait for them to shoot first.

Peace should be the preferred way to go, but if you aren't willing to fight then you are giving up. Countries are like people. We support a police force to keep crime out of our homes. Same with countries, only its an Army. Would you be willing to let someone come into your home and do as they please? Would you be justified in calling the cops?

Yep! When Hezbollah builds an Elementary School on Top of A Missile Launch Site to get Two "Hits" for the Price of One ! "When We Launch Missiles, We Win when We Kill Jews. When They Track the Missile Trajectory back to the Launch Site, and Kill Innocent Children, We Win again, this Time in the Court of Public Opinion ! We Win Twice !" This is for Real, whether You Choose to Believe it or not !
