I have read many questions and answers on the Yahoo forum about freedom. I notice a lot of people , think freedom is , free things! Dont have to pay dollars $$$$$.
They tell everyone they can about the high gas prices, taxes and they complain and complain. The U.S. , is not free.
I think they are confused on what freedom actually is! We have the freedom to get an education, many people in other countries are not allowed that privilege.
We can buy a house or a car etc. There are no house's in some countries to buy, If you could afford one! There are lists in some country's to buy anything, including food! Can you choose your profession or are you told what you will be and what you will do for your livlihood. Can you own a business? Can you leave the country , if you want too. ?
We can complain about the government all we want. Do we risk being put in jail! For an opinion! Please tell me, What is feedom to you?
Can you vote? Why do so many Americans not Vote! then complain?

My boyfriend is at the air force academy and sent me this qoute: " I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to teh death your right to say it"_ VOLTAIRE. While some may argue that americans don't have the freedom to say what they want think about this everything you say is heard. Think about those in Africa that have no word because of the corrupt cops. I say that freedom is what we have. NO one else is closer NO one will ever be more free than us.

Freedom, to me means that I am able to say whatever I like, assert my individuality as a human, and be able to support whatever view I choose to.

It means that I can oppose the president (which I do) without fear of being executed for treason.

It means that I can go to any school in this country and get a good education, and take that education and do what I want to with it without fear of reprisal from the government.

It means that I can sit on my butt at home and type on my laptop, answering questions like this instead of washing the mound of laundry in the laundry room, doing the dishes, picking up the baby's toys, and baking the cookies I have to make for tomorrow.

THAT is what freedom means to me. . .

P.S. - I vote every election since I turned 18. Every vote counts, and if I don't vote, I basically give up the right to complain about what happens with our government (heard that from my father for over 30 years). I think more people need to realize that.

Freedom is the right to write a LONG question when only a short one will do.

I think freedom means that I can or cannot go to church, synagogue, wherever , whenever I want without the fear of someone threatening to cut my head off if I don't do what his religion wants !!!!!!!
