I'm sorry, but I'd rather have breasts that aren't "perky" than be constricted and itchy all day. When I'm not wearing a bra, I can think much better and immerse myself in whatever I'm trying to learn. When I have one on, I'm constantly thinking about how itchy I am and how I'd like to take that stupid thing off. I'm not going to submit myself to daily torture just so I can have pretty titties. My boobs may not be high, but my GPA will be.

I can't understand why a mother would force her daughter to wear such a stupid thing. I also can't understand why the mother would wear one in the first place. Are you women that obsessed with your appearance, or are you too cerebrally-impaired to comprehend those signals coming from your nerves, and so you can't feel it there?

OBVIOUSLY you don't have BIG boobs or you would understand why some of us wear bras (I don't even like sleeping without one) and as far as the itchiness and constriction you're probably not wearing a very good one! Or maybe it's the wrong size? Anyway from about the time I was a sophomore in high school I had DD size breasts and believe me it HURT and I felt selfconscience about how they would bounce around. When I had children and nursed, NOT wearing a bra wasn't an option. NOW I'm ALL for not wearing one if that's what makes YOU feel comfy, don't want perky boobs GREAT! I have worn a bra every day almost all the time since my freshman year of high school and my boobs sadly are nowhere NEAR perky (and I'm still in my 20s). I'm going to have them fixed (only because I am the freak of the world, while everyone else GAINED weight when they had children I dropped 15 lbs and a LOT of it was in my breasts, I now wear between a D and C cup). I just want what I have to be where it belongs!!! Anyway, what's important is not so much what others think but what you do. Although I did NOT wear a bra until I was in 8th grade, (I was a LATE bloomer) and finally gave in to wearing one when the boys in school started calling me Bouncer. I was of the same mind you are, bras were uncomfortable and itchy. By the way, my daughter will probably be "blest" in the same way I was, and yeah I'll be "forcing" her into a stupid bra too. That doesn't make me stupid (by the way I majored in physics in college, so my IQ, and my want to wear a bra have nothing connected). Besides there's nothing stupid about wanting to look your best, as long as you're doing it for the right reason! (and that's YOURSELF) Look I'm not bashing in on you for NOT wanting to wear one, hell I wish I could NOT wear one, so please don't be so close minded as to pass judgement on other people for what they want to do, at least we're not wearing corsets anymore!!!

Its a cultural thing. You will have people staring (particularly
if you are well endowed), and you may get comments, but
there really isn't anything wrong with it. It is THEIR problem,
not yours.

Indeed, by wearing a bra most of the day, women cause the
muscles (such as they are) that hold the breasts up to atrophy.
If you never wore a bra, your breasts would hold up better
than if you always wore a bra and took it off.

Other than keeping those muscles, and perhaps not irritating
the skin, I know of no other advantages to not wearing a bra.

A bra may under limiited circumstances, provide some protection
to a sensitive body part. It doesn't provide a lot of protection,
however.

It sounds as if you are wearing the wrong size or style of bra. You shouldn't get itchy from wearing a bra unless it doesn't fit right or it has lace on it which makes many people itchy. Large department stores have bra consultants you could try. Also a sports bra doesn't seem to be as constricting. Maybe the underwire hits you wrong if you are wearing an underwire bra. When you buy bras, be sure to try them on and if you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable, don't buy it. Not wearing a bra when you are young could lead to sagging boobs later in life.

How old are you???

It's important to wear a bra (to me) because it only makes sense that your boobs will sag earlier and get more stretch marks that usual....if you're not comfortable wearing a regular bra because of itchiness, etc., then try a training or sports bra...their softer and less constricting. But it looks slutty (sorry...no offense to those who dont wear theirs on occasion) when you walk into a store or whatever with your nipples sticking out or your boobs hangin outa your shirt or swinging all over the place. I feel very uncomfortable bra-less in front of anybody.

Hope this opinion helps.

I wear one, but for support. You can't run or jog without one since it's not good to have them bouncing. I was told, that is you run and jog like that without a bra, it could eventually cause breast cancer, but don't quote me on that. If you are small chested, (A cup) you could probably get away with it, without much worry. B cups and up should wear them for the support, especially when exercising. The itchiness could be that the bra is too tight.

Nothing until you get older, now I am wishing I wore one more often hahaha.. for example, turn on national geographic, those women never wore bras.. ever.. take a look, haha.. I hate bras, and when I get home from work, that is the second thing I remove (first is my shoes), but in the morning, I think of national geographic, and it gives me the strength to put one on.

What a smart person! :) Haha, I think it's fine not to wear a bra, I guess it prevents it from sagging. The description is nicely worded! I guess the brasierre is used to conceal your body parts.. parts that shouldn't be shown to the public. I guess it's a sense of safety too... although to come think of it, no one will sexually harass you out of no where.. only rapists but other than that, no one. If anyone does, you could just kick him in the balls, that's all and you're safe!

It isn't a comfort thing, but more of a cultural thing. It is obvious to most people when you aren't wearing a bra, and that sends signals to both men and women that might not be what you intended, but which you will shoot off anyways. I prefer to not wear one, and since I work from home, I have the privilege to be able to skip it, but I always wear one when out in public.

Firstly, a breast is a sexual organ as so far as man is concerned. It has been that way for years.
Secondly, if you do not wear a bra, your boobs will be hanging down to your knees by the time you are 40.
Now ask yourself this question. Do you want your men or ladies to see your breast as sexual or as just another part of your body? I have to tell you, to me breasts are very sexual. I respect them more when they are hidden. It leaves something to the imagination. If you feel that you are not for this, then by all means, let them swing free.

I totally agree. I don't know the history of bras, but they seem to have been designed to torture. I do know that some of my clothes seem to fit better if I'm wearing a bra, but I'm pretty large. But I almost never wear one unless I absoultely have to.
