gmail from google, then yahoo... my favorite that is not webbased is Thunderbird from Mozilla, it compliments the Firefox that Rocks the Internet.... No seriously, Thunderbird and Firefox are the most safest, and reliable email and browser available right now.. Good luck

Definitely YAHOO.COM It is user friendly and has many other wonderful tools such as messenger. You can also post pictures on your own albums you create and email them to friends.
