I notice a high correlation between men who talk with a lisp and men who happen to also be gay. Is there any scientific research to support this theory?

I don't know of any scientific research, but I will tell you one thing: you don't know about all the gay people around you. From personal experience, MOST of the people who talk with lisps are gay. The inverse, however, is NOT true. Most of my gay friends / acquaintances do not talk with a lisp. I have my own social theories about why this is, but I've probably rambled enough.

Lisp = probably (but not always) gay
Gay = Not incredibly likely to lisp.

Is there a direct correlation between yahoo answers and moronic questions? Your perception is that men who speak with a lisp are gay, therefore you think that every man that speaks with a lisp is gay. Stop worrying about how people talk and more to what they have to say, maybe then you can start asking questions that aren't offensive.

Get a grip dude.

Different people speak differently. It's like an accent in a sense. They may be trying to portray a certain disposition, but I don't think most gay men speak with a lisp. I know a couple of straight guys who have involuntary lisps though.

There is actually a higher percentage of straight men with lisps than gay men because there are more straight men on the planet.

This proves that men with lisps are not always gay, but mostly straight.

I've never seen any studies. I think the lisping gay man is a stereotype that has been perpetuated by movies and TV. I'm gay and actually I don't know any of my friends who lisp.

Stereotype. Neither myself or any of my gay friends talk with a lisp. Just because the gay guys on TV talk like that, does not mean we all do

Stereotype. That's all. I've never known a gay man with a lisp and I know more than a few. Most gays are like most men. If they don't tell you their orientation, you are not going to know it.

hmmmm...the modern theory is...the longer I stay at A!, the stupider the questions get...and this is one stupid question. Most Gay men I know, and I know one heck of a lot of them, talk just fine. They have no lisp. Lisps are speech impediments, not sexual orientation.
