You may not be able to actually find a list but if you know the name of a vessel or the number you may be able to find the owner's name. For example, Transport Canada has a list of registered vessels that can be accessed on line. Our sailboat is registered and is listed there. You can buy the list of all ships registered in Canada from the government through that site.

The US Coast Guard probably has some similar list and a way to access it, as would other countries.

Forbes.com might have a collection of info on who owns the world's most fantastic yachts. Many yacht owners are well off, but relatively unknown. You might try also searching megayachts. This term has been applied to boats 100+ foot in length. In the meantime, I have been on a motoryacht a mere 42'. A lovely boat and expensive too, but you would never find the owner's name on a list of Who's Who.
