That is a shame that you did not get it. I think that you need to rent it again. It was powerful. Yes it was the future but given the nature of the times in society, government and terror; I would say that it as right on the money.
Look at everything going on today and you will see that this movie is very timely. It is a shame that you thought it was okay because it was not just "okay" it was "phenominal". Maybe if you actually understood it, you would hold it in the same regard.
I guess some movies are over peoples heads.

I believe the movie takes place in the late 2030's, though I am not sure when, exactly.
Really, though, the time and year doesn't matter. Its supposed to be in a near future - its a picture of where OUR WORLD might go if we don't do something.

They called this movie "An umcompromising vision of the future" or something along those lines.
I don't think the actual date was said in the movie but I assume it is somewhere in the nearfuture, as others before me have said around 2030.

I think it was set in 2015 or 2020 and I read somewhere that it was like if the Germans had won WW2 and England became Fascists.....and in the movie somebody says something about it being almost 500 years after Guy Fawkes which was in 1605.

v's an antihero, not really a super hero the movie lost everything that Alan Moore wanted to say with the comic, I just had to add my 2 cents in here somewhere.

That movie confused the living hell out of me. I watched it just the other day, and I spent most of it in serious confusion.
I have no clue whatsoever what year it was.
If you were to ask my husband though, he said he liked it,he understood it so who knows.

The entire film mirrors our society today, a kind of message, "look where we're going people".
it shows what people can do when they come together and become one.
