wondering why.....why we can't be their heros anymore? I mean, my father was my hero. He worked at the Pentagon - he loved me. My mom was home for me every single day (although she turned out to be a mess but that is beside the point).....it's like I'm personally not feeling great about how things have gone in my life and I read the questions on here from little girls starving for love. My kids didn't starve for love/sex, etc. at the age the kids are on here. Why is it they don't FEEL enough love in their life to appreciate themselves without having to have sex or be "in love" with a "boy?" What has happened? The LAST thing I thought about at 12 years old was having sex with a boy but the little girls on here...I have a granddaughter --- it scares me. GIRLS, YOU ARE LOVED --- YOU DON'T NEED A "BOY" TO PROVE THAT TO YOU...... was that okay?

Well, from one granny to another, (I am 46). Neither or my parents were hero material, but my granddad was the best!
So I feel like I have a lot to live up too! AS far as being a grandparent goes!
But I really do understand what you are saying! It really freaks me out to read some of the stuff on here from little girls and boys! I am constantly thinking where are their parents!!
I admittedly was not the best mom I could have been, but my boys (grown now also) never felt unloved or scared, or as usless as some of these kids do.
It really is frightening!!
My husband keeps saying,"Oh, these times are a changin'"
But still?????????????

The age of information seems to be working against them, as they seemed preoccupied with sex. I to at 12-14 spent my time learning all kinds of stuff that would help me later in life.

Popular media without doubt sends wrong message to these girls. Probably their parents are too busy working like crazy to care enough what their kids are up to. That's a shame!

you sound like a good mother but you can't protect each and everyone of them but its always good to give advice even if its not needed. my parents always say 'its better to say something than to never say anything at all and that we 'kids' should always keep in touch and love one another no matter what'.
i truly believe that the lack of miscommunication between parents and their kids, leads these children to these acts of wanting to be loved by people whom they don't know about and exposing them to adult stuff.
keep up the good work n' may your boys have your caring heart.
