Hi. I have Direcway from HughesNet. I use the the DW7000 receiver/modem thing. I am just wondering if this is considered a DSL link, T1, etc. We have a LAN line that connect from our computer to the receiver/modem thing, and a satilite dish outside. Can someone give me an idea what the speed is? Thanks!

Sorry not familiar with Hughesnet. But If I undertand you correctly, you have a satellite dish,

Definately not T1 or T3. Probably roughly comparable to DSL on download, but slower on upload.

It's considered Satellite internet service. It's usually has about the same bandwidth as a low end DSL line, but tends to feel much more "sluggish." The reason for this is because your data has to go from your computer to a satellite in space, and then back to the ground. This several-thousand mile roundtrip creates "latency," which can make webbrowsing feel slow.

You have Satellite Internet. It's comparable to DSL, not T1 as one user said.
