Why don't they stick to arguing the issues like mature, civilized, educated humans?

I absolutely agree with you. I don't consider myself a democrat or a republican but I often debate issues on both sides. Dems tend to be a lot more level headed when I don't agree with what they have to say. This usually allows for a constructive exchange.

It seems a lot more Reps (not all of course) do exactly as you've indicated when they don't agree with my take on any given topic.

Take heart. When someone resorts to name calling during a debate, it's a good indication that they believe strongly, but have no idea why.

I think each side has the "childish" element of name calling. But I do like the question.

The answer: Anyone that can't argue and support their point of view against a fact resorts to name calling and personal attacks. Example: the people that are pro-illegal immigration refer to those against it as "racist". Personally, I think it's really sad to have to resort to such tactic to try and win an argument, but some think that is the only way.

Probably to counter the endless name-calling dems call repubs. It's funny, I posted a question and many "enlightened" libs did nothing but name calling and not one ever answered the question. They're so smart, they assume they know how I feel. Sometimes a term like "Dummycrat" fit so well.

Like this mature, civilized, educated human?

"Was Mary Cheney born lesbian or did her hatred toward her evil father Dick, turn her into a lesbian?"

Sorry. If you complain about the ridiculous right and not the loony left then you are one of the loonies.

Come on do not put that off on us. I not seen one lib or Dem not use name calling as a way of making a point. That started back 20 some years ago.

Because we're reaching down to your level to discuss the issues in the ways you understand.
It's democrats who call republicans bigots, homophoebes, uncaring, fascist, racist, etc. etc.
All republican leaders are characterized as ignorant. Highly educated Black republicans such as Condi and Colin Powell are called "House Ni##ers by people of their own race.
You can't stand the name calling? You guys started it, let's see you stop it.

Because the Democrats believe in ending the life of a child that has not yet had a chance to speak for themselves. Thats a dummy crap in my book. Why? Because legalized killing makes me very emotional, and when I get emotional I have a difficult time modifying my speech to appear to be someone that I am not.

Pots and kettles is all it is.
Mature debate is beyond the capacity of these extremist partisans. Shitslinging occurs from both sides, it's just easier than actually thinking about the issue and cooperating on it. :\
