Run a diagnostic page it all the colours are coming out purple it is the cartridge...

If it has done the same thing with both cartridges you may have a problem with the contracts inside the printer.. check to see if there is any debris inside the holder. If so unplug printer and gently wipe away with a lint free cloth.

Run the cleaning process on the head and try again.

Seems as one color may not be coming out.

Maybe a defective cartridge.

Are all colors in one cartridge?

If so, take it back and get another one.

ok, once you are attempting this, is there the thank you to maintain that placing so as that it saves as a jpeg each and every time? because of the fact once I did that i substitute into searching for a 'save settings' button yet there is none so I could go in and alter it between each and every image that I test.
