Liberals believe that the role of the government is to support the people, and not to control them.
They believe that the government should impose significant regulations on states and businesses, limiting the harm they can do, but impose only minimal regulation on personal choices.
They believe that it's wrong to impose religious or moral beliefs on others just because you happen to be in the majority at the moment, and that it's right to read into the Constitution the maximum protection and freedom of choice for individuals.
In the arena of religion, they believe that the government should never tell people what to believe, and should not promote one religion as more valid than any other. They believe that the government must remain neutral on the topic of religion in general, affording it no more and no less restriction than any other form of personal expression. They believe that it's wrong for the government to tell religion what to do and how to exist, and just as wrong for religion to be used as the primary justification for secular laws.
As far as taxes and smaller government, they believe that the government has a responsibility to the people, to take care of everyone. If this means taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor, well if it was good enough for Robin Hood it's good enough for Congress. They believe that altruism will only go so far, and that the government has an obligation to ensure that art and scientific research have some sponsorship. They believe that people and communities left to themselves will not set useful minimums standards of education, and that it is the government's role to ensure that those standards are being met (see also No Child Left Behind).
In short, they believe in the constitutional mandates to "promote the general Welfare, and ensure the blessings of Liberty". And they think that if we are going to be a nation of laws, the government must follow its own laws.
That's the summary. Note: I'm not a liberal because I disagree with many of the beliefs expressed above. That doesn't make them irrational.

Actually, from what I've found of Conservatives, a lot of their beliefs are formed based on hatred for anyone who doesn't agree with them or from the blame game. But anyway, Liberals and Conservatives just throw the same insults and descriptions back and forth, and we never get anywhere. Can't we all grow up and do something proactive for once? I don't care if you're Liberal, Conservative, or something else, just get off your *** and fix things!

Whats wrong with being open minded and objective. The minute you lable your self as liberal or conservative either one you have limited your options. You are a staunch conserevitive huh? What that says to me is that you will not even consider another view point or argument, regardless of true merrit or lack thereof. If its a conservative view then it must be right, if its a liberal view it must be wrong. The world is not so black and white.

For a good country the people should be able to take the bill of rights liberally, while the government should have to take the constitution conservatively.
More government equals more people to screw it up, which means more screw ups will happen, that means more money.
Corrupt people are screwing America over right now, just like Hitler and his cronies did.
Pretty simple, read a book.

Principles....
Beliefs.....
Us liberals stand on FACTS.
It is a known fact that you can never argue with a factless person basing an argument on belief, opinion and so-called principle alone.
While you THINK you win debates, what you dont know is that you are being laughed and ppl are shaking their heads walking away feeling sorry for you.

I believe that the function of govt is partly to help the less fortunate. Maybe people are afraid to just say that outright? I don't think the function is to block any investigation into govt function or to make sure my rich buddies get tons more money in their pockets while poor children are thrown off of the welfare, health care rolls.

Well considering that the Zionists own and control all global mainstream media and most of them are cons like you,one to one debate is all we can afford right now and you cons are way to busy raping the world for oil and profit to be starting a one on one conversation about politics with us.

you use "beliefs" not facts... I would fear that you didn't actually win the debates... you just "believe" you did...
without facts... and argument is pointless opinions being thrown around...
and your examples don't prove your point... to prove your point, you would need to refrence an actual debate you had with a liberal...
you don't seem to be very good at debating at all...

Just use one of your three examples to explain? Listen to you, you think you know everything and that you have all the answers. You just think you win because the lib you are debating is tired of talking to a silver-spoon-fed momma's boy like you
