Because we're in denial. People sometimes do not believe that we all cause it because we are all usually out for ourselves. we don't really care unless we get what we want or need from the earth, which is really bad of us.

We don't want to stop the bad things we are doing so we're still in denial that we are causing global warming, to the detriment of our environment and living condition.

Some people doubt that WE are causing global warming because of a GREAT lack of information or data. We simply do not know enough to definitely say one way or the other. Gases trapped in the ice of Anartica show a dramatic change long before industrialization. Biologists will tell you that the insects in the fossil record are MUCH larger than even possible today. The oxygen levels are different.
The fact is that we don't actually know anything. We only believe what our limited information suggests. We might be causing global warming, but there is a big difference between might be and definitely are.

Hello did you know...Some people even think there is no global warming.
The national media has given tremendous play to the claims of Vice President Al Hore, some federal scientists, and environmental activists that the unseasonably warm temperatures of last summer were proof positive of the arrival of dramatic and devastating global warming. In fact, the record temperatures were largely the result of a strong El Niño on a decade in which temperatures continue to reflect a warming that largely took place in the first half of this century.

Observed global warming remains far below the amount predicted by computer models that served as the basis for the United Nations on Climate Change. Whatever record is used, the largest portion of the warming of the second half of this century has mainly been confined to winter in the very coldest continental air masses of Siberia and northwestern North America, as predicted by basic greenhouse effect physics. The unpredictability of seasonal and annual temperatures has declined significantly. There has been no change in precipitation variability. In the United States, drought has decreased while flooding has not increased.

Moreover, carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere at a rate below that of most climate-change scenarios because it is being increasingly captured by growing vegetation. The second most important human greenhouse enhancer -- methane -- is not likely to increase appreciably in the next 100 years. And perhaps most important, the direct warming effect of carbon dioxide was overestimated. Even global warming alarmists in the scientific establishment now say that the Kyoto Protocol.... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_Protocol)
will have no discernible impact on global climate.

because if you are an honest scientist (not someone who takes the latest fad and runs with it) there is no concrete information one way or the other. Nearly all of the information being presented is equally contradicted by other information if you are honest and review ALL the data.

For example, 117 degrees in Sacramento is NOT evidence of global warming (no matter what Bill Maher said on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night). Neither is snow for the first time in over 20 years in Johannesburg evidence against global warming. Both are normal swings in the long term climatic curves.

True man is generating a lot of greenhouse gases, but in comparison with volcanoes such as Mt. Pinatubo or Krakotoa it is insignificant.

What about the effects of global warming? If it occurs, there is more precipitation in the polar regions which ties up the water in snow and ice which causes the sea levels to fall, not rise. Or does global warming result in a melting ice and a rise in sea level?

There is NO concrete evidence one way or another because the earth's climate is influenced by geology, hydrology, biology, atmospheric changes, changes in the solar output, as well as the activity of man. Only if you ignore the evidence can you blatantly state YES or NO to the question of global warming!

I think most people do think we, if you mean the US, are causing global warming, but the politicians keep their hands out for kickbacks and thus keep letting the big smog producers get by without doing anything to stop it. The US is the largest producer of smog in the world and we do the least about it. The government is so crooked that the global warming will never get any better and that is why we are having such high temperatures in almost all of the country. I hope the ozone layer closes up, but I am not going to hold my breath.

People think we aren't causing global warming because the earth has natural cycles of warming and cooling. For instance, the data tells us that the earth has been getting warmer since 1975 (about 30 years), before that there was a 40 year period when it was actually getting cooler. And, before that was another 30 year period of warming. So people think this is all part of natural cycles.

Another thing... Global warming supporters always talk about greenhouse gases. They say that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and that its a product of burning fossil fuels. While that may be true, CO2 only makes up about 5% of the greenhouse gases. The vast majority of greenhouse gases are produced naturally, and the number 1 greenhouse gas is water vapor. Nobody is fussing about water vapor, and it's warming the planet 70 times more that CO2.

To make a long story short......

The climate of the Earth has shifted thousands (if not millions) of times since the planet formed. 99.9% of these climate changes took place before humans even existed. Based on these statistics it is very likely that the Earth would be going through a warming phase right now regardless of the human influence.
Of course, it is just common sense that we should all be trying to reduce the amounts of pollutants and greenhouse gases we put into our atmosphere!!

I think that the people who deny it are just saying it to make the public not worried and by denying it get money for it. They're lazy, moronic bums who don't want to make a healthier earth for anyone. I don't care what other people say but I think it's due to the war. Yes, ridding the world of nuclear weapons will save the earth, but for how long? We're digging in places that we shouldn't for oil. Also, if Bush expects other countries to get rid of nuclear weapons, why do we still have ours? No matter what we do, the rich do whatever they want, and nothing for the better!

Is it possible that it's a weird thing. The earth is constantly changing, is it possible that it's one of these changes. I know a lot of people think it's the fault of politicians and oil companies etc.etc.etc. What if the earth just said, huh, see what ya do with this ya little turds.

I think when people say its a 100 billion year cycle they are just ignoring the facts. I have an aunt like this, she also thinks secretly american found thousands of weapons of mass destruction in saddams palaces and that elvis isn't really dead
