Limewire itself is not illegal, but what everyone uses it for is illegal.

Depends on what you use it for. If you use it to download free music, then yes. If you use it for programs or audio files that were free in the first place, then no. Basically, if you can pay for it, but you're not, then it's illegal.

The program is perfectly legal.
What's questionable is the content that you download with it. Downloading copyrighted materials is illegal.

Not if you pay for it. Even the local DJ`s here in Florida are the one who suggest Lime Wire. They load there music off of Lime Wire .

ok the only thing illegal about it is if you share the file,

when your done downloading the file right click and click "stop sharing file" or something like that, then your not illegal anymore

yes at least what people are using it for. that's why there getting sued by a bunch of music companies. which also means it might not be around for much longer.
