There are two people at my work who have similar names. One of them simply won't respond if you call her by the wrong name. That's one strategy. Or, you could maybe look behind you as if you were looking for a person standing there the next time she calls you by the wrong name. Then turn around and if she's looking at you say, "Oh, were you talking to me? My name is _____, not _____." Just do that EVERY time and it might sink in.

I have had this problem before. Unfortunately, my problem is on the foot of the lady. She is probably not ignoring you, but is embarassed and feels she has put her foot in deeper each time and it is at a point she doesn't know WHAT to say now. I have a horrible time remembering names, and if I get it wrong the first time, since I know I have this problem, I have already associated it with something so I would remember it. Then it is very difficult saying their right name. I would appreciate it if you would approach me and say Hon, I'm not offended or anything, but maybe I can help you remember my name. If she has my problem, she might blush, but in the end I think she would appreciate it if given with genuine concern. At that point, I would even consider you a true friend. PS. I have learned to just apologize and explain that I have trouble with names and if I call her by the wrong name again, to just stop and say, um, my name is ---. I do it in a humorous way, and we begin to like each other better.

She is playing a game. The best thing to do is to call her another name also when you are talking to her. If you know of someone (female) she does not like -- call her by that persons' name. Soon you will find that she is calling you by your name or that she will talk to you without calling you a name at all.

I have had this happen to me. My name is Rosie yet sometimes people will call me Rose. I have no idea why since my name is Rosalie. Anyway my tactic is to correct them "I'm sorry, it's Rosie, not Rose." If it keeps up just ignor the person and if they ask why you didn't answer just say you didn't realize she was talking to you. Just keep doing that every time.

Are you familiar with A.D.D.? Some people just don't listen well, and some are forgetful. You know what I do, in that situation, even though it's seldom for me? I let hte person call me what ever person name. Long as there's nobody around whose name it is, I answer to it. I don't let it bother me, unless the name is Seymour.

That's why I don't call people by their names! I just say "hey you" or wait for them to talk to me first! lol She might just be forgetful, like some others have said. I'd try to approach her in a polite way so you won't embarrass her or anger her. It happens to everyone from time to time!

I would continue to correct her, but in a nice way. If it kept happening after a certain amount of time, I would call her by a name thats not hers as well.
