I was in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru twice (1999 and 2000) and loved it. Very clean, inexpensive, lots of interesting things to do, friendly people, and I felt much safer than I would walking in LA, San Fransisco, or San Diego.
I wonder if people's attitudes toward Americans has changed much since 9/11.
