Ohhh... good question! Give me a sec!

Alright - tougher than I thought. So many of the protagonists or characters from novels that I find intriguing... lead some very effed up lives! I stood looking at my bookshelf, imagining stepping into the world of anything by -

Faulkner, Hesse, Joyce, all the classics - nope - don't want to be them!

Sci-Fi? Fantasy? Better, but still, so many of the worlds are so messed up... then it hit me... Hogwarts!

I vote for Harry Potter. A day he's not facing Voldemort if you please. Quidditch? YES! Magic? PLEASE!

Funny that such a pseudo-intellectual snob (<-- me) would choose a 'children's book! But, my excuse is that it is definitely a world I would like to spend 24 hours in!

Thanks for the great question!

>> EDIT - Okay - some others have said HP... I don't feel quiet so silly anymore!

Luna Lovegood ie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I find that Luna is a very insightful person, she is an individualist who follows her heart and not the crowd. Though she is a bit strange she has the heart of a Gyfinddor even though she is in the house of Ravenclaw. She is a good fighter having proofed herself in both books Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

If I could be any character in a novel, would have to be Prosper from the novel The Thief Lord. He encounters so much adventure during the course of the story; it would be an amazing story to be in. And it's set in one of my favorite cities on earth--Venice, Italy! I would love to be surrounded by such beauty and good friends in a wonderful story like that.

I would trade places with Lieutenant Dallas from the Nora Roberts as JD Robb series. She is a tough chick who's married to a hot, beyond wealthy Irish guy. The stories also take place in 2059 (BUT it is NOT a sci-fi series!)

I would want to be Ava in the Big Stone Gap series by Adriana Trigiani. Ava has a handsome husband, lives in a beautiful mountain area of Virginia, sounds like she has great true friends and neighbors. And relatives in Italy and she has been there at least 3 times!

I think I would change places with Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice. She is a very strong woman from her time and I love her wit! She is my all time favorite charactor in fiction. I love the era in which the novel takes place and would love to see England at that time! Darcy is completely wonderful too, which always helps! : )

Brianna Randall Fraser MacKenzie from Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series

I'm completely in love with her tall, dark, handsome husband, who also happens to be intelligent and witty and have a Scots accent I could listen to all day.

Where are all the cute, young, 6'3" history professors with British accents these days, anyways?

I would like to be Robert Langdon, and investigate the mysteries that seem to attract him. I have been to Rome and seen most of his Angels and Demons sites and Paris to see quite a few of the DaVinci Code sites as well. He seems to be leading an exciting life full of questions and unanswered mysteries. Great Life!

It would have to be Anne from Anne of Green Gables, I was totally enchanted with the novels as a child, and am still today!
