Labor Day (in the United States) is the first Monday in September.
All banks, government offices, schools, libraries, etc are closed for the holiday. All of these institutions should be open the Friday BEFORE Labor Day. Some will be closed on Saturday because they are usually closed on Saturday. Call ahead before you leave so you don't waste time and gas.
