Yes, even after 18 years I still love her even though I have not seen or heard from her since 1988.
I don't know that I could really love anyone else or even look at another woman.

Nope, not really. Feelings fade. You can't possibly love your first love THAT much to hold a torchbearer.. but I guess you can still hold a candle in a way because you can laud him for being your first love and opening your eyes to the world of love.:)

I guess so if 'holding a candle' means your thinking of them from time to time. What it'd be like if you met up again? Would it feel awkward or would you fall into a comfort zone?
But then, I have that with all the woman that I've really cared about.
Sorry, just read the last part of the question again - yes to holding a candle, but no to the torch. Just the gentle glow of a candle.

Yep. It was 28 yrs ago. He's married, every few months keep in touch through email (FRIENDS), he lives about an hour from me. He was there (in my email) for me during my husbands illness and his passing. We never talk about "us",its his kids, my kids, our work ,and old school friends. Ironically we both have a son with the same name.
I'd hook up with him in a heartbeat! Not possible and thats OK.

I did until I met the guy I'm with now. I thought I'd never forget my first love, but Adam came along and I have no reason to think about this other guy. Adam is a million times better to me than that one and he makes me happier than I've ever been!! :)

Not consciously, although I still dream about him all the time. And then I wake up missing him but it goes away after a while. That's actually really sad now that I think about it! lol

Yes, Sherri. Used to sit with her on the school bus. Time and circumstances and many lost loves.
But, I can still smile;)

I don't know how to answer this - there's so many of them! (but yes, there are the few and the proud that still make me emotional) I think you're pretty too.

I think anything resembling a real 'LOVE' leaves indelible marks on one's heart and soul. In a good way. No matter how it ended.
So yeah, first love, second love...
