Is there a free clinic in your area that can help? Many times, there are clinics for people w/out insurance, or a hospital may take you w/out it. Worry about paying for it later. It's worth it.
If that isn't an option, consider a group therapy setting where you can find a mentor/buddy to keep an eye on you and help you get through it.
And not to preach, but when I feel the most hopeless at times, I turn to God and tell Him how I feel, and He never let me down. The good times may not come soon but if you are determined to change, that is very admirable and you can do it. Now, to find someone to be by your side while you do. That would be my advice.
Is your wife an option?

Well then, stop your destructive behaviours, and take your first step to mature responsibility and do what you know you must do, don't put it off for any excuses you know you will use! Pick up the phone and get yourself into an emergency room and admit your problem to a professional doctor with pure honesty. If you are truly sincere you will do the right thing. I'm not here to pity you, that won't do no good...come on...wake up! Now that I got through all that...breathe...and get a move on!

I agree with Katz...try a church counselor. Alot of addiction problems originate with spiritual problems and even regular programs and clinics don't provide longterm deliverance.
My dad was a full out drunk for 30+ yrs, we had him committed to two (count em, TWO) different programs ($$$$), and within a month of leaving each one, he was back in the bottle.
When he started going to AA and asked for help to a Higher Power (he picked Jesus), he came out of it, clean! Never went back.
Another suggestion: Teen Challenge (which also accepts adults), a religious residential help program. It has an 86% success rate, even after years.
Keep your chin up and get going, Too. Help is waiting for you.

You just need to tell yourself no matter what happens no matter how you feel you need to stay away from it. Don't care what it feels like to be off of it because that is the effect of your body fighting back to get to its normal state. you need to really want to do this. its like running a race you're running so hard you want to stop but you don't, you keep pushing and you finally make it to the finish line and are glad that you never quit trying. It'll be a challenege but you can do it and when it is over you will be so glad.

I know you're going through hell right now. What I did was I went to see a Christian counselor and I talked with him about how I was feeling. Talking about it with others who cared about me helped so much. Now I'm 100% clean. If I can do it, so can you. I have faith in you!

Addiction of any kind is NO joke. I divorced my husband because of his addictions, first it was narcotics/pain meds and graduated to crack cocaine......get professional help before it costs you your life or puts you in prison. Those are the choices you have to look forward to not to mention loss of friends, family, etc. NO ONE CAN CHANGE YOU BUT YOU.

Does your Town have a health department? If so go there. Also many churches have support groups. You don't have to be a member, just seek help!
