I'm currently investing in a Cornerstone Strategy growth fund, but I'd like to add an idex fund.

you can add anything, CD,bonds, REITS, ETF, index fund,international fund

Yes, you can hold as many mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and even real estate in a Roth IRA. The only limitation on the number of investment options is what the broker where you hold the Rother IRA has availible.

There is no limit to the investments that are inside of the IRA, the only limitations are the amout that can be contributed for the year. Ideally if you can find a mutual fund that outperforms the index consistantly it would be a better investment. To me index funds are like getting the average - I would like for my investments to outperform the average

Yes you can invest in as many as you want.

A big caution: Be very careful of your costs because they add up faster than you might think. If you only have 5 or 10 thousand you can burn up too much money on trading commissions. You should only be making a few trades with this amount of money.
