Because teens (including myself sometimes) don't think abouit the long term effects of things. All they think about is how good it will feel right now to them.

I think its because teenagers have so many restrictions on there life on what they can and can not do. So maybe them having sex is like them TRYING to take some type of control over there life. Maybe they think its the cool thing to do because its considered bad because nobody now a days wants to be looked at as the good girl or boy. Teenagers are just ignorant and immature, soon we (i am a teenager) will understand why sex at a young age really isn't a "cool" thing...and some will just realize this too late. The sad thing is being pregnant is starting to be the newest fad for teenagers.

Can you believe it but there are teens out who don't know about aids, stds etc. The ones who know about just don't care believe they don't wanna live. Teens now are very stupid and it seems as if they just wanna drop out of school and be the worst that they can be. They don't know that an education is worth more than a $1000000 bucks. Having an education is one of the greatest gifts and obviously parents are not hammering this in the heads of their teens.

The parents are out looking for a partner themselves. They are divorced or never married. Their children do this because they have not been taught any better. They know that the government will help support those children, so it isn't a worry to them. Most of them feel that std's are the "norm"... so they figure they are going to get it anyway, why worry about it.
Sad, isn't it?

I balme it on the parents. The lack of discipline towards them. If a mother or father are taking the proper care of their child-they would know what theywere up to at all times-without having to snoop. Not to mention they would have good morals and values taught into them.
It's all about the home environment

You're right. Unfortunately, most teenagers suffer from this idea that nothing can happen to THEM. As for the parents...that's another issue. No one wants to be responsible for anything today. It's a very serious issue.

some kids dont have good enough parents to teach them right from wrong or maybe they do and they do it for spite. some people have sex to build up there self eysteem, and the attention makes them feel better even if they know thats all the guy wants it makes them feel important. im sure in the future they regret it and wish they could go back.

Because human nature such as it is & add in youth brings about, "That won't happen to me." Parents can't be attached at the hip 24/7 & it only takes a moment to make a life long mistake.

Parents are working too much and not getting involved with their kids. I also find that parents are trying to be friends with their kids instead of parents so lack of discipline. Unfortunately I think that kids today want to rebel or prove something. It doesn't help that the government will support these girls by giving them welfare. Somebody needs to be held responsible.......

It takes experiencing life to learn from life. Just like us, our kids have to learn things the hard way. Some kids just don't listen. Hormones are powerful things. Combine that with peer pressure the poor kids don't seem to stand a chance.
