The Nazis counted the Holy Roman Empire as the First Reich and the empire under Otto von Bismark 1871-1945) as the Second Reich. These were terms used only in Nazi propaganda and really are not found anywhere else.

The First Reich was the Holy Roman Empire. The second Reich came into being with the formation of Germany in the mid-nineteenth century. This was dissolved, as were the Russian, Austria and Ottoman Empires, at the end of the first world war. The Third Reich was the empire which was established by Hitler and included all the countries which Germany invaded so re-unify all Germans. This included Austria, parts of Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia

The second was The Roman Empire and The Greek Empire was the first ....Nazi's loved Greek and Roman architecture too, check out pictures of the buildings in Germany in the 30s and 40s.. Lots of those buildinngs still exist.Hitler had a huge plan that would build a glorious city made of monumental buildings . Their design was a tribute to the Greeks and Romans before him ....The 3rd Reich was supposed to last 1,000 years........

Here's some trivia .....The Volkswagen Beetle that we know and love was approved by Hitler as a means of transportation in Germany and it's satellite states

Reich means German State.
The First Reich was also known as the Holy Roman Empire. From the 9th to the 19th century.
The second Reich was also known as the German Empire was rule by the Hohenzollern dynasty from 1871 to 1919, they fell at the end of WW1
