That means you are not a participator. No. I don't know anyone like that. However, I did in high school.

You observe life with minimal involvement. Your a watcher, not a doer. The "stands" mean "grandstands" (or "bleachers"). Just like the sports fans who only watch their team, but probably couldn't play the game.
Sometimes people do not involve themselves in the activities of life, because they lack the skills. Sometimes it's because they don't have the interest. And sometimes they "watch from the stands," because they're simply lazy.
Yes, I know many people like this. Makes me wonder what they will have to think back upon, as they reach the final years of their lives . . .

I know a lot of people like this. They are those who go home every evening and watch TV or play on their computer. I am not talking about designing programs and learning. They are primarily on this computer at least 4-6 hours a day just surfing. Or watching TV. Or playing x-box or playstation. They don't get involved in any school activities. They are not involved in volunteer organizations or church. They have no hobbies. They are not physically active and not only that, but when something passionate happens, even if they are interested in doing something, they don't because they are afraid of committing themselves to anything.

It means to be in the passenger's seat and not in the driver's... to watch sit back while others get involved.
I have no problem with how anyone lives his or her life. Some people are naturally inclined to be "spectators," whereas others feel the need to take the bull by its horns. As long as you're happy... that's all that matters.

Someone who "watches life from the stands" is someone who basicly lets life happen around them. They don't go out to achieve anything, they just take what ever should come their way.

Image a sporting event, say, basketball. There are players and there are spectators. Who is in the stands? Are you running your life like a player or a spectator?
