Not all people will. It might take a while to get to the point where you can spot the people who will and those who won't. There are other nice people out there; being nice is the way to find them.

Being nice is a personal choice, it is not something you do to please others. You can be nice and not allow people to take advantage of you. Being nice does not mean being a door mat; stand up for yourself or you will stand for anything.

There is being nice and being overly nice. You can still be nice and not let people take advantage of you. It is all in your communication skills. Good luck.

Be wise, and then be nice. Don't volunteer your friendship so quickly and don't be such an open book. Stand back and hold back for a while and then evaluate whether or not that person deserves your niceness. Otherwise, you are just putting yourself out there and asking for the attention of people who are looking for someone to use.

You will always get rewards for being a nice person. The question is when should you be nice and to what degree, no one should be a door mat.
In a way being nice is its own reward

Take life's walk the way you want it.
Be nice if that makes you like yourself better.
Avoid people that are not good to you. (There are some 6 billion others)

Tell me about it Laura. I know exactly what you are talking about.
I suppose it's better if we continue to be nice because that is just who we are. However, we can avoid situations where being nice will cause us to come out on the losing end...again.
Hang in there.

Because at least then you feel good about yourself for not bringing yourself down to their level and being jerks like them. You can be a better and bigger person. Bless you girlfriend.

Because if you're not nice, then you're most likely mean, and it doesn't feel good to be mean...and all people wanna feel good, so we be nice, because it's the way we want to be treated and it makes us feel good...
even if it doesn't work out all the time...=(
