if your wanting to keep the 4 wheel drive part of it,you,ll have to buy an adapter ,,so that the transmission will go in to the transfer case on the keep,,i had a 85 model that i changed and put a 305 hi performance engine in ,,from a Monte Carlo SS,,and it was not that bad of a job to do,,they make a kit for the engine to line up,,and the rest is in the wiring ,,and how ever you decide to set it up,,i used a gm 4 speed trans out of a Chevy impala SS to do mine with,,and everything worked just fine,,it amazed people when they seen the Chevy engine in it,,and all the 4 wheel drive stuff hooked up,,and working i drove it for a few years ,,and finally sold it,,it was a fast little jeep though but yes it can be done, there is a company that makes all the necessary stuff to do it with,,if i can find the book i will post it up later,,i don't think i have it anymore,,but yes it can be done,,hope this helps.,,the shaft adapt for for the transmission,,allows you to use the 4 speed transmission,,and it fits right in to the jeep transfer case,,it all sounds weird,,but it works like a dream.

It may be possible, but not an easy swap. Jeep is/was made by Chrysler and the 350 is a chevy displacement so I am assuming its a chevy motor. The Jeep would not be designed to accept the size, bolt patterns, tranny hook-ups and probably not the electrical. All in all, not an easy thing to pull off if you are looking to just drop something in there and go. My suggestion would be to find a Dodge 318 and see if that would drop in.

Are you keeping it street legal ? What about the emission controls ?
It's realy not to hard a swap the frame mounts can be found in kit form and the bell housing can be adapted or changed over. the radiator would pose a small problem ,one for an earlyer (64-68chevelle...)can be slightly modified,or custom made, now quite common. look in the 4x4 mags there are several companies that make adaptor kits and stuff,
Just plan on it being more than just a 1 weekend project.

they do promote higher engines for jeeps and all of us could use slightly more effective skill, yet there are some belongings you should keep in recommendations. a 350 places out a large type of skill, this can exceed your transmissions purposes (no longer confident if the 4-bangers have an similar because the immediately six). if this will change into an situation, you could substitute out the transmission and per chance even the move case, yet that could get intense priced speedy. even then you definately could likely ought to modify out the axles, the dana 30/35 can in straightforward words manage a lot torque. upload on higher tires and larger weight in armor (assuming you go with more effective skill to abode added weight from changes) and also you're able to be pushing it. i could recommend swapping in a immediately six from a junkyard tj. even more effective acceptable, i could recommend going to an certainly jeep communicate board to get more effective credible solutions from knowledgeable human beings.
