First try to remove the stain as best you can. Then simply go to Wal-mart and buy some liquid dye as close to the color of the carpet as possible. DO NOT poor the dye on the spot, use a Q-tip to lightly apply the dye to the spot. If the dye is darker than the carpet apply less dye and try to blend it into the fibers so it will not stand out. If the dye is lighter apply a heavier coat or several light coats. I have done this many times and most people can not tell where the spot is. I even repaired a carpet that was bleach stained for a landlord one time and he though I had replaced the carpet. The key is light simple coverage don't over do it.

My aunt dyed her carpet,,she use regular dye and mixed it in a bug sprayer and sprayed it evenlly over her whole carpet and let it dry for a few days worked great....
But to get a bad stain out of the carpet as long as its not a bleach stain...
1.wet spot with carpet cleaner
2.then lay a wet hand towel over it
3,take a hot iron and lay it on the spot for a few seconds the hotter the better
4.remove the iron
5.take a scrub brush and start scrubbing wont take much
then blot it dry..the stain should come up with ease

What kind of stain is it? I don't think you can dye a carpet as it will run into the pad and the floor beneath. If it doesn't have to be a perfect match then why even bother trying to hide the stain?
Clean your carpets.

If you have hardwood floors under the carpet, rip out the carpet and throw it away!
