Good - He does not deserve to be in the England team for repuation only, he hasn't been performing as well as he once did and the time is right to move on. I think most people who watch football on a regular basis knows that he doesn't really offer anything to the England team anymore apart from the occasional free kick he scores, he's always trying to play the perfect ball and when this doesn't work we have to defend against the other team's counter attack. He can't run past players and isn't as effective nowadays. We need players like Wright-Phillips and Lennon who can dribble past people, when we play Beckham and he's being marked out of the game the only attacking threat from the right is Gary Neville!

Most of all, England actually play some good stuff playing short passes rather than whacking it up the field. Playing this way will undoubtedly create more chances, the rest of the team were probably told to pass to Beckham all the time - hence Beckham having the most assists. No player should be bigger than the team.

Candidates for the right midfield position - Wright Phillips, Lennon and Gerrard (Carrick can take the holding role).

He had to go. England, like any other TEAM need to play as one.
and for a long time they have got results but played rubbish.
I am Welsh, but if England played good entertaining football
i would be happy to see them win.
The last time they played well was under Terry venables, I am glad that Steve Mclaren as brought him back.
I think that England need a team on the field so they don`t
HAVE to rely on a Beckham free-kick to score.
they have the players to go out and win games.
I also think that Beckham is a bit of a waste of space in open play, cant tackle.
I am more concerned with the Lampard, Gerrard, situation. don`t
think they can play at the same time, would prefer Gerrrard myself, I am man u fan.......

Depends, if he was dropped for someone better then good but if, as I suspect, he was dropped so the new manager could distance himself from the last one then very bad.

In my opinion beckham is still a game winning player and should be in the squad if only to be used as a sub, maybe he shouldn't always be in the team or play all game but are the other squad members really better than him? Not all of them IMHO.

I do`nt think he has been totally dropped, as I read that he was going to fight for his place in the squad, I agree there are a lot of good youngster`s, but I still think Beck`s has something to offer, OK maybe not 2010 but in the near future, he has been playing for England for 10 years so his experience would be helpful would`nt it.

I in simple terms observed that NZ misplaced with the aid of 10 wickets, on the third day itself, from a hey the day till now immediately, very shocked. In that experience, England did a lot extra suited interior the 2d innings, after their disastrous 1st innings yet they controlled to attain extra desirable than double, what NZ controlled. So it must be NZ, which did rather badly in this try at recent..

I don't know what Steve McClaren's thinking, but it's totally wrong! Maybe he wants to do somethings that totally different from the last Sev....(to try to proof something, and comfort all ppl). But he axed Beckham was totally wrong! Ok, please forget about the 98WC....only talk about the 2002 & 2006 WC... "Who" brought England go to the qua final----Beckham, "Who" brought England qualified to the 2002 WC----Beckham, "Who" help the English team beat the Arges in 2002---Beckham, "Who" made the most asists in this WC from England----Beckham, "Who" brought England to the qua-final-----BECKHAM (His Golden Free Kick again!)
Please do some respect! All these years, all the scores for his own country...why no one respect?!

Near Term no good; but if we are talking of the next world cup; he will be too old; better to drop him now and start fresh; have new young players to work on a new structure; test it in euro 2008 and hopefully 2010 will produce good result.

Dropped from the future games but McLaren will be stupid to ignore if he plays well in Madrid and either Gerrard or Lampard gets injured. Lennon or Wright Phillips seems to his choice on the right. Never say never, should be McLaren words.
